Permanent Resident Card
Changes in the process of getting a permanent card (PR card) result after pressure on the Government.
Previously, PR card applicants had to obtain the signature of a guarantor - a Canadian citizen they had known for at least two years. This was difficult for newcomers who did not know anyone in Canada who met the requirements to be a guarantor.
In addition, permanent residents used to have to send in their existing PR card when they applied to replace a card that was (...)
